The RTA secretary visited various public transport stands in the city and expressed his dismay over unhygienic conditions.
He said the government had launched the Clean and Green Programme across the country, under which it is mandatory for the transport stands’ managers to ensure cleanliness.
“Neat and clean environment is imperative for the protection of public health, especially of those who visit the transport stands and travel by public transport,” he added.
Hussain directed the stand managers to ensure availability of potable water for travelers round the clock.
The management was also asked to plant “maximum saplings in and around their stands” to contribute their share in the Clean and Green Programme.
