Recounting her harrowing experience of a miscarriage that ultimately led to the deterioration of her kidneys, Javeria relays how she decided that she should adopt a child to complete her family and the part that Soul Sisters Pakistan played in her journey.
The then 24-year-old Javeria found herself pregnant two months into her marriage. However, what awaited her was something she never anticipated. She was told that she could not conceive a child of her own due to the risks involved.
Through out her ordeal, Javeria had the unwavering support of her husband and in-laws, who never once let her descend into the turmoil in her mind. One day, three years into her marriage, her doctor suggested adoption.
"My doctor asked me, 'If you want to have a baby so badly, why don't you do for adoption?' Nobody had ever said this to me before and it had never crossed my mind either. My husband got very excited about it but I was hesitant," she recalled.
Javeria's fears held her back. Would she be able to take care of someone else's child? Would she be able to love it as her own? "I wasn't accepting or sure of the fact that I would be able to do justice to the child," she said.
Through out this period of hesitation, her husband had started applying to NGO's and on their anniversary, had a surprise for her. He took her to a shelter for orphans, after which Javeria was convinced that the kids need a loving home as well.
"My whole perception changed after that," said Javeria, who then took to Soul Sisters Pakistan to ask for help. "I posted my story and the response was overwhelming. So many people wished, helped and prayed for me. And one of them was someone who I will call my true soul sister," she reminisced.
"Her name is also Javeria and she helped me out. She told me the way to register myself in the list and how I have to just follow up after that. For seven months, I kept on following up with those people and then one day, when I had just returned from a vacation, I got a call from a lady asking if I wanted to adopt a baby girl."
Javeria could not believe the lady but it was actually true. The baby was premature and she had to pick her up from the hospital.
"I left everything, ran to my mother-in-law, hugged her and began to cry. She kept asking me what happened and started crying as well. I told her I was going to have a daughter. I can't express how I felt," she gushed.
"My husband, my mother-in-law and I went. There was a glass wall through which you could see the babies in the incubator. I could see three incubators from the outside and all three babies looked premature so I really couldn't tell which was mine," she said.
Javeria went on to share the exact moment she met her daughter. "There was this baby who was looking at me with her big eyes and I was praying to Allah, 'please let her be my baby'," she expressed. "As I went inside, the nurse picked the same baby and I was doing a happy dance over there that Allah granted my wish!"
"People wait for nine months and it took me some seconds to become the mother of a girl," said Javeria, expressing her gratitude. "From the moment I held her in my hand, I knew she belonged to me. I have never prayed for myself but now I pray that Allah gives me health and strength so that I can raise her."
