QUETTA: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) central leader Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani has called for the implementation of the 18th Constitutional Amendment – a step taken by the then Pakistan Peoples Party government to empower provinces.

The BNP-M leader said this during a telephonic conversation with Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Saturday.

Both the leaders termed the delays in implementation of the 18th Constitutional Amendment as conspiracy against the federating unit. They stressed that the federal government should transfer powers to provinces following the development.

“The 18th Constitutional Amendment lighted hope among small provinces that they would be the owners of their resources. But ironically, some powers do not want to implement the law and causing deliberate delays,” Raisani told Rabbani and also invited to host the next meeting of the constitutional committee in Balochistan.

He also suggested calling an  APC in order to discuss obstacles halting implementation of the amendment.
