The poor need bread

Price of wheat flour is too high for a person who earns Rs500-600 a day

TURBAT: Inflation is galloping in Pakistan. Every day the poor majority of the country faces many problems due to these price hikes. Though prices have increased since this government has been in the saddle, the poor could manage it in the beginning by not buying those items which they did not need. Gradually, the government attempted to fix things but unfortunately the poor still can’t manage as inflation and prices have increased manifolds; they can’t even buy bread. The price of wheat flour is too high for a person who earns Rs500-600 a day.

According to reports, the price of wheat flour has gone up due to exports of flour to other countries. This is really a shame to hear that our own citizens are committing suicide for bread but we are selling our flour to other countries. It is time that the government understood what is truly important. A leader knows what the plight the people are in. Of course, international obligations and commitments are to be met but one cannot simply forget what the common man is going through. When the people are happy, then you can be considered the best leader, even if you have no name outside the country.

The government needs to pay attention to this issue. Such issues in the country can turn the people completely against the government and if such a thing happens, the country can never progress. The poor can at least be provided bread, if not anything else.
