These views were expressed by Azeri Ambassador Ali Alizadeh on Friday at the inauguration of the Eco-School in the suburban village of Shah Allah Ditta. The school is a project of Wellness Trust.
Under the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Alizadeh said that Azerbaijan has already launched several welfare projects in Pakistan, especially in wake of the deadly October 2005 earthquake.
Alizadeh said needy children are the most vulnerable segment of society everywhere, therefore special attention must be paid on securing a bright future for such children. The ambassador hoped that this school will cater to the needs of the poor and needy children of the area.
The envoy noted with concern that millions of children across the globe remain out of educational institutions and hence deprived of an education. Terming it an alarming situation, Alizadeh noted that immediate steps were required to protect the rights of children.
The ambassador also highlighted various initiatives undertaken in Azad Kashmir, adding that through these projects the government and leadership of Azerbaijan had demonstrated its love and affection for the people of Pakistan and its earnest desire to further promote and develop various sectors in the country.
Ambassador Alizadeh lauded the efforts of Wellness Trust Chairman Dr Aamir Hanif and his team for launching this project.
Wellness Trust Chairman Dr Aamir Hanif gave a presentation about the project and briefed the audience about various projects being run by the trust.
Later, the diplomat visited classrooms and interacted with school children. He was also briefed about the expansion plans of the school. He said that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation might build a school in the area.
