The authority is likely to pay the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in next few days so that it can start work on the project. Provision of gas in Sector I-14 was a longstanding demand of residents of the sector as the matter has been pending since 1989.
Under the project, SNGPL will lay 3.47 kilometres-long gas pipeline which is four inches in diameter and set up a door-to-door gas network in Sector I-14.
Moreover, a two-inch-wide, 29.25 kilometre-long pipeline and a 501.11 kilometre long 1.25 inches diameter gas pipeline will be also be laid. The existing gas network and infrastructure in the sector will be upgraded as well. The CDA-DWP in a meeting last October had approved the PC-I for the project worth R3.112 billion for carrying out development works in Sector I-11. Consequent upon approval of project cost, concerned formations were directed to fulfil codel formalities so that works about respective formations be carried out simultaneously.
In this context, SNGPL was approached to furnish demand notice for the provision of gas infrastructure in the residual area of the sector. After complete survey demand draft was furnished which was processed and has been accordingly approved by the authority.
