ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt enjoy a strong bond and Cairo is looking forward to promoting tourism with Islamabad, said Egyptian Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Fadel Yacoub.

He said this while seeing off Pakistan’s top industrialists, businessmen, and people belonging to the civil society, who were departing to Egypt on a seven-day tour.

The envoy pointed out that 10,000 visas were issued by Egypt to the Pakistanis last year and voiced hope that Egypt would enhance the number of visas in the near future. “Pakistan enjoys warm relations with Egypt,” he said. “In fact, the Egyptian government earns a significant amount of foreign exchange from tourism.”

He added that Pakistan government, which was currently focusing on boosting tourism, could learn a lot from Egypt. Egypt, due to its historical and cultural importance, welcomed 10 million tourists in 2019.

Speaking on the occasion, businessmen said around 1,000 leading businesspersons and heads would be visiting Egypt this year.
