Defrauding donors

Scandals around mismanagement of donations have left donors questioning authenticity of public sector organisations

ISLAMABAD: in PCorruptionakistan has permeated every segment of society. International donor organisations which provide donations and charities are also not immune from it.

Reports reveal that the locally employed staff of the international donor bodies and intentional NGOs, in partnership with people placed in authority position in various public sector organisations, are indulging in corrupt practices. Only Argus-eyed individuals can uncover or point out this organised corruption.

Transparency matters for international donor bodies; but these unscrupulous elements, both from among the locally employed staff and officers of the governmental bodies’ dont care about it. Their only concern is to mint money by hook or by crook. Which is why only the lists of items used are kept for the record, but the allocated funds worth millions of rupees, where do they go? It is easy to understand.

Unfortunately, scandals around the mismanagement of donations and gifts, foreign recreational trips for focal persons, mismanagement, corruption, and massive amounts paid out to third parties — have left donors questioning the authenticity of public sector organisations. But who cares. People come and go and they never raise a question as to how and where the funds were spent or how donation items were collected?
