Ignoring education

Letter January 19, 2020
Low quality material, delayed works, and improper execution of the project have disappointed students

TURBAT: The previous established infrastructure of educational institutions in Chaghi District, have turned into broken and horror vacant buildings. Nokkundi, the native city of Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, is a victim of the same situation.

A project for building a college for the city was approved and the construction of its building continued for a few years. It was promised by the Senate chairman that it’ll open soon to facilitate native students to study in their city rather going to Quetta or ending their careers till matriculation.

Years have passed and neither is the college functional nor the developmental work is proceeding ahead. Due to negligence on the part of the authorities concerned and lack of monitoring, the building has broken down before it started functioning.

Low quality material, delayed works, and improper execution of the project have disappointed students. Now there is no college to provide education after matric.

There is only one secondary school in the city. Unfortunately, neither are vacancies of teachers filled at school levels nor the sole secondary school has sufficient and qualified staff to teach students. We appeal to Senate Cairman Sadiq Sanjrani and the relevant authorities to properly execute the project and facilitate students for their better future. A nation without education can never make the right kind of progress. We should ensure quality education for all. Sami Sahil Baloch Nokkundi Turbat needs more fire brigades

Abrupt bushfire incidents are surging alarmingly which remains a prominent issue in the District of Kech. It is unfortunate that a large number of fire deaths had occurred in various towns and villages of the district last year. Fire incidents took place largely in petroleum and natural gas shops.

Many people have died, many have been injured and property worth millions has been lost. Most worryingly, there is only one fire brigade in Turbat to extinguish the bushfires. It is insufficient when a massive bushfire occurs on the outskirts of the city.

The existing brigade is also devoid of proper facilities. I urged the government to establish more fire brigades in Turbat and provide all necessary facilities at the existing one.
