The sources revealed that Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Director General (DG) Gohar Nafees has expressed his anger and strongly criticised the director over briefing he gave to the commissioner. The DG has issued a new policy guideline for the officers across the province.
The directives have been issued to refrain the ACE directors from bringing about such briefing, regarding departmental affairs, to the knowledge of the district administration or briefing them at offices.
Reportedly, the director-general instructed directors in Punjab, including Faisalabad district, to discontinue office briefings to the district administration. Faisalabad commissioner has been subjected to criticism and an explanation has been demanded.
Details obtained by The Express Tribune revealed that the director-general issued instructions to directors that no briefings would be given about departmental performance to any commissioner or deputy commissioners.
A few days back, the Anti-Corruption director briefed the commissioner regarding the performance of his department on which the ACE DG summoned him and asked whether the director had ever been briefed by a DPO or DC about their performance.
Speaking on the issue, the DG said, “We have to take many steps in order to improve departmental proceedings and we need to maintain secrecy for the betterment of the department.”
Therefore department has issued orders to directors from across the province regarding the briefing to office-bearers, he added. “The Faisalabad Anti-Corruption director should have sent an invitation to the commissioner in order to share information with him and give a briefing about the performance.”
The directors have been instructed to not disclose the internal affairs of the department.
