Polio has become a tragic epidemic in Pakistan. Pakistan polio eradication programme faced special challenges in 2019, which led to resurgence of polio cases during the year. The programme; however, conducted a critical analysis of the situation and devised a comprehensive strategy to overcome challenges in a sustainable manner.
Brazil fines Facebook $1.6 million for improper sharing of user data
Facebook's Regional Director of Public Policy Rafael Frankel met Special Assistant to PM on Health, Doctor Zafar Mirza to raise awareness on this issue.
Mirza said the government will soon make Pakistan a polio-free country.
“With the continued support of Facebook, we will soon make Pakistan a polio-free country,” said Zafar Mirza.
Facebook’s Zuckerberg says company considered banning political ads
Speaking on the occasion, Rafael Frankel said that Facebook will continue to support Pakistan to curb polio.
Mirza appreciated the company’s efforts in blocking negative content against the anti-polio programme that was widespread on the social media platform in 2019.
PM Imran Khan has also stressed the importance of polio eradication stating it as the top-most priority of the government as it affects the future generation.
