Seven US embassy officials barred from entering Peshawar
The officials, in three vehicles, were en route to Peshawar from Islamabad but the Motorway police turned them back for not carrying a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Earlier, four US nationals who were on their way to Peshawar were sent back to Islamabad after they failed to produce complete travel documents to the police.
The four, who were intercepted at the Peshawar Motorway Interchange, were identified as Richard Joseph, Edward William, Dennis Vansi and William Kath.
Earlier this week, two Americans and a Norwegian citizen were also barred from entering Peshawar for not having an NOC.
These foreigners were stopped at Peshawar Interchange on the Islamabad-to-Peshawar Motorway and sent back to Islamabad.
They were carrying valid visas and passports but did not have a NOC which the Interior Ministry has made mandatory for foreigners while travelling anywhere in Pakistan.

This shouldnt be NEWS cause by the time we have read this , the Interior Minster has already issued hundereds of NOC :) to any one with a buck

FYI:
Visa allows a foreign citizen entry into their country. In circumstances where the security of foreigners is an issue, the host government, in this case Pakistan, may require further paperwork before entry to 'volatile' regions of the country is given.
In the case of Pakistan; the authorities issue NOC (No Objection Certificate). This means that the ministry concerned is satisfied with the purpose of the visit and also the nature of the individuals concerned.
Further, given the recent state of affairs between Pak and US, I'm surprised why so many 'embassy staffers' are allowed to still live in here ???
