‘Plastic causing environmental degradation’

Rescue 1122 has initiated an awareness campaign against the use of plastic shopping bags, said District Emergency Officer Naveed Iqbal.
Excessive use of plastic shopping bags is concerning and causing environmental degradation, he added.
On the directions of the district emergency officer, Rescue 1122 Community Safety Wing inaugurated the awareness campaign for the eradication of plastic bag consumption.
This campaign will be conducted in Kahawar Kalan Union Council, in collaboration with the National Rural Support Programme, and the Hope Welfare Foundation.
An awareness lecture has been delivered among participants and at the end of the lecture, cotton bags were distributed in the area, he further said.
“Cotton bags will help eliminate the use of plastic shopping bags as plastic is the reason for the spread of environmental pollution, maintained the district emergency officer.
