LAHORE: A man killed his ex-wife and shot himself in the area of Shadbagh. Police shifted the accused to the hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

According to Shadbagh SHO Waqar Hussain Bukhari, 25-year-old Yasin was married to 19-year-old Iqra, about two months ago in Swabi. Reportedly, Yasin and Iqra had a quarrel over a domestic issue, which led to a verbal divorce within two months of marriage.

After this, the victim Iqra left her house and arrived at her uncle’s house situated in Shadbagh, with her father Naseer. On Tuesday, Yasin came to Shadbagh from Swabi and tried to settle the issue with Iqra. As per relatives of the victim, Iqra demanded divorce papers from Yasin and said that since he has already repeated verbal divorce, now the decision should be in accordance with the law.

Yasin asked repeatedly to Iqra to go back to Swabi with him, which Iqra refused reluctantly.

Reportedly, Yasin first threatened Iqra by showing her a pistol. After several failed attempts of convincing Iqra, Yasin shot her at last and then fired the gun on his head.

When police reached the crime scene, Iqra had died while Yasin sustained bullet injuries.
