Shah Rukh Khan to return to the big screen in a Rakesh Sharma biopic

The 'Thugs of Hindustan' actor Fatima Sana Shaikh has reportedly been roped in to star alongside him

Entertainment Desk January 07, 2020

Shah Rukh Khan, who had taken a break from films since his last venture Zero bombed, will be making a comeback for a biopic, reported Times of India.

Earlier, there had been reports of the star signing on to a Rajkumar Hirani or the South Indian director Atlee's film, but no reports of confirmation have materialised since. Instead, new reports are suggesting that he may as well have signed Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur's next venture, Salute.

Shah Rukh is reportedly 'very much on board' and the Thugs of Hindustan actor Fatima Sana Shaikh has also been roped in to star alongside him.  In previous interviews, Shaikh had expressed her wishes to be able to work with the King Khan, and it seems as though they might actually ring true for the young starlet this decade.

The movie is based on the life of Rakesh Sharma, an Indian pilot who was also also the first Indian to travel to space.

Both Shah Rukh and Fatima's last major releases in India failed to strike a chord with the audiences, garnering a majority of negative reviews. Both Zero and Thugs of Hindustan were released in 2018. It'll be interesting to see the pair team up, and gauge whether it works on the screen.
