Speaking to the media on Monday, ANP Provincial President Aimal Wali Khan than on Monday said that they supported the amendment because the issue was referred to the parliament by the government.
He also urged other political parties to support the legislation and to strengthen the 18th Constitutional amendment.
Flanked by senior politician and former provincial minister Farid Khan Toofan, who rejoined the ANP, Aimal said that the extension issue being brought to the parliament was a victory in itself for all democratic forces.
He urged all state institutions to act within their constitutional boundaries to avoid any confrontation.
The ANP provincial president also urged the federal government to stay neutral in the Iran-US conflict.
He said that his party is fighting for the rights of Pakhtuns at all levels and will continue its efforts to this end. The ANP leader said that Toofan’s decision to rejoin the party proves that the Pakhtuns trusted the party.
