Mornings without breakfast

Letter January 06, 2020
The poor are the ones who are feeling this chill the most as they can’t afford LPG cylinders even to cook their food

FAISALABAD: I hope and pray that you will be enjoying these chilly winters in the warm rooms of your office and home. As you know that winter is breaking records in several cities of Pakistan like in Skardu temperature fell to -21°C. It is expected that this winter will break more records in other cities like Lahore.

Moreover, the government has increased coldness in the lives of the public by carrying out gas load shedding. People are compelled to go to work without eating breakfast due to unavailability of gas. This is not only affecting their efficiency but creating many problems in social behaviour. The poor are the ones who are feeling this chill the most as they can’t afford LPG cylinders even to cook their food.

The daily surge in the prices of basic commodities is another burden on the common people. I urge the government to alleviate the problems of the common man. They should put an end to the load shedding of gas so that people can fill their bellies and remain warm in their houses. If they succeed in doing this, it would be the best new year’s gift for the people in these current weather conditions.
