During a one-on-one meeting at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, President Asif Ali Zardari and Afghan President Hamid Karzai reiterated that they would continue the ongoing fight against terrorism and extremism till the restoration of regional peace.
The meeting focused on a range of issues, including bilateral relations and the regional situation with specific reference to Afghanistan’s scenario after the beginning of the US troops’ withdrawal.
President Zardari, who arrived in Kabul on a day-long visit to offer ondolences over the death of Karzai’s younger brother, also used the opportunity to hold a one-on-one meeting with Karzai.
Spokesperson to the president Farhatullah Babar said that President Zardari told his Afghan counterpart that Pakistan strongly supported Afghanistan’s peace and stability. They also discussed the issue of border violations and attacks by militants from the Afghan side into Pakistani territories at the Pak-Afghan border, and in retaliation, shelling of mortars by the Pakistani troops.

We have to be friendly with all our neighbors without any exception. It is nice to see that Pakistan govt is seeing eye to eye with the Afghan govt for a change. Let us be honest and fair with all our neighbors.
What an absolute farce! "Briefing media spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that President Zardari told his Afghan counterpart that Pakistan was a strong supporter of Afghanistan’s peace and stability."
This is the classic example of "blind leading the stupid". Then we might ask ourselves the question; What are they collectively smoking? A president that cannot maintain "peace and stability" in his own country is a supporter of peace and stability in a country that is barely breathing!
Then "He said Pakistan believed that the solution to Afghan problem rested with its people who must be given opportunity to decide about their future."
What is he talking about there? They have the same brand of US installed demagoguery that Pakistan suffers. Surely, he does not suggest that Mr. Karzai like himself is practicing sham democracy?
It is frustrating to see Pakistan being run by thugs and conmen!
The conflict in Afghanistan was not Pakistan's war back in the 1980s and it is not Pakistan's war now either. Too bad the leadership back then, and the leadership now, does not realize this.
