The development came at the conclusion of the three-day 23rd Pak-Iran Joint Border Commission meeting held here on Friday.
The Pakistani delegation was headed by Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove and Chief Secretary Capt (retd) Fazeel Asghar while Sistan-Baluchestan Deputy Governor for Security Affairs Muhammad Hadi Marshi led the Iranian side. Senior civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.
Both the countries have resolved to boost trade activities as well as security arrangements at the border. The meeting took various decisions to prevent illegal border crossing, stop illegal supply of Iranian diesel and petrol, and curb border violation as well as terrorism activities on both sides of the border.
Pakistan, Iran ink MoU to improve border security
On the occasion, Chief Secretary Asghar said, “It is imperative to implement all decisions taken in the three-day moot for achieving success in trade and strengthening border security.
“Small issues at the borders of both the countries should be resolved.”
He urged the Iranian delegation to encourage the people living near the border on their side to create a peaceful atmosphere and assured the visiting team of taking the same measures over here.
“Pakistan and Iran should enhance cooperation in trade activities to help stabilise both the countries’ economies,” Asghar said.
Deputy Governor Marshi said, “Pakistan and Iran are two brotherly countries that have always helped each other in times of need.”
Marshi vowed that Iran would take all necessary measures to help “trade activities between the two brotherly countries flourish”.
