BIRMINGHAM: Tehreek-e -Kashmir (TeK) UK chapter has decided to stage a protest outside the Indian High Commission in London on January 26, India’s Republic Day, to demand the right to self-determination for Kashmiris and condemn the illegal abrogation of the occupied region's autonomous status on August 5.

The decision was taken in a meeting held in Birmingham chaired by TeK UK President Raja Fahim Kayani on Wednesday.

“Kashmiris will observe Indian Republic Day as Black Day... the so-called largest democracy of the world has been exposed by denying  the fundamental right to self-determination to the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) granted by the United Nations," said the TeK president.

He questioned the deployment of one million troops in IOK. "Heavy deployment of troops indicates that India's target is to crush the non-violent freedom movement in the occupied region,” Kayani added.

He accused India of killing innocent Kashmiris and illegally incarcerating thousands since 1989. “India is committing war crimes against humanity in occupied Kashmir. The international community must take notice of atrocities being committed by Indian army."

The demonstration outside Indian High Commission in London will expose brutal and violent face of India before the world, he said, adding that "India is using brutal tactics to break the will of people of Kashmir by imposing curfew, communication and economic blockade and using molestation of women as weapon of war in IOK."

Representatives from PML-N , PPP, PTI, JI and other religious and social organisations also spoke on the occasion, and discussed ways to make the demonstration against India a success.
