CDA hopes to rebuild Burma Bridge by April

Load test data has been sent to the consultant for final designs

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday said that construction on the Burma Bridge on Lehtrarr Road is continuing despite the fog and the cold.

Moreover, per instructions of authorities, effective monitoring is being carried out to ensure quality and timely completion of the project.

In this connection, after completing the load test, data has been forwarded to the consultant for final designs of the load piles of the bridge, a CDA spokesperson said.

The official added that the designs are expected to be received shortly. Thereafter, embedment and pile lowering work will be carried out.

Furthermore, girders have also been completed while work on the pier columns has commenced. Moreover, work to protect the bridge from the flow in the nullah is also being conducted simultaneously.

The construction of the bridge had been pending for several years, due to which residents of the area and commuters who use Lehtrar Road were facing difficulties with traffic jams in the vicinity a regular feature.

The CDA, though, finally allocated funds to start work on the bridge at the end of September 2019.

Effective monitoring is being ensured to continue the pace and best quality work. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March.
