A lot of people doubted my relationship with Ranveer: Deepika Padukone

The actor shared that the two are very similar to each other

Bollywood's power couple, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, share a sizzling chemistry both on and off-screen.

The husband and wife duo are famously all-eyes for each other, but turns out, they've have had their fair share of naysayers over the years. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Deepika revealed that people doubted them as a couple, citing a lack of similarities between the two.

"A lot of people were apprehensive of our relationship much earlier on because they looked at us from outside and felt like ‘My god! These two people are so different from each other.’ The fact of the matter and the reality is that we are very very similar people, we have the same value, we have same ambition," she cleared up.

While Ranveer flaunts an over-the-top persona off the screen, Deepika is regularly hailed as one of the most elegant actors in Bollywood. The two are also constantly tied together post their marriage which, some people argue, takes away from their individual selves.

“To retain our identity, while we were dating and post-marriage, is extremely important. You’ll very rarely see us together even publicly because I don’t have to be attached to him all the time because he has a professional commitment somewhere else. Similarly, if I have a professional commitment, he doesn’t have to be attached to me all the time," Deepika explained, putting the concerns to rest.

"We are equally driven, we are equally committed to our relationship, we are equally committed to our friends, we are equally committed to our families. The similarities are way more than what people perceive from the outside," added Deepika.

The two have been seen in a number of Bollywood films over the course of their courtship including Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. This aided in cementing their status as Bollywood's go-to couple. "We are equally very supportive of each other. We are there when we need to be there for each other," concluded Deepika.
