Education and 18th Amendment

I am in favour of this amendment which made provinces autonomous there is however one major drawback

LAHORE: The 18th amendment turned Pakistan from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary republic. As I am in favour of this amendment which made provinces autonomous there is however one major drawback. The education system has been transferred to provincial control which is a risk. What is the threat?

Before the 18th amendment, the educational system was under the control of the federal government. During that period the educational syllabus was a sign of unity among the nation as it was mapping the minds of Pakistanis. After the 18th amendment, the situation is totally different as every province is following a syllabus of its own which emphasises ethnicity, structuring the minds as Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi and Pakhtun instead of Pakistani.

An easy solution could be that the central government should have the monopoly in making the syllabus which should be followed by all provinces.

Moreover, we are already divided on an ethnic basis and if we don’t stop this then it might grow rapidly in coming days and our unity might be harmed.
