1,300 hepatitis cases registered in 11 months  

Officials were advised to launch a comprehensive campaign against the adulterers in the district

SARGODHA: A total of 1,379 further cases of hepatitis A, B and C were registered at all government hospitals, including Tehsil Head Quarters and Basic Health Units in Sargodha district during the last 11 months.

According to the Diseases Surveillance and Control Cell Punjab report, surfacing of further 1,379 hepatitis cases in the district is a very alarming situation for the health department. Medical officers of the cell directed officials concerned to form teams at Union Council level as soon as possible to deal with the situation.

The officials were advised to launch a comprehensive campaign against the adulterers in the district and report should be presented at the earliest.

In this connection, Dr Sikandar Hayat Warriach told APP that the real cause of spreading hepatitis A, B and C was the using same razor at barber shops, reusing of syringes by the quacks, piercing nose and ear with polluted equipment or instruments and eating unhealthy food.

Dr Warriach said that the Punjab government’s health department has started facility of hepatitis tests and providing the patients with medicines for better treatment at district, tehsil and rural hospitals.
