Missing persons: IHC seeks report from SP

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday sought a report within two days from the Islamabad Superintendent of Police (SP) and standing counsel over the issue of missing person Imran Yousafzai.

Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi issued the directive after conducting the hearing of a petition filed by Yousafzai’s brother Kamran Yousafzai.

Chaudhry Umar Hayyat Sindhu, counsel for the missing person, apprised the bench that on July 12 at about 11.30am, the Imran left his house to go grocery shopping on his Suzuki Margalla to G-9 Markaz, but did not return.

The petitioner called him on his cell and Imran said that some people were chasing him near Karachi Company. Kamran immediately went to Karachi Company and called Imran, but his cell was off and since then he has been untracable. He said that the petitioner immediately approached the Station House Officer (SHO) and requested him to register a criminal case and make efforts to recover his brother, but the police official refused to proceed.

They also approached high-ups in police department, but to no avail, he added. He requested that the court issue direction for recovery of the missing person.
