Punjab govt has doled out Rs12 billion so that the needy could start their small-scale businesses

LAHORE: It is the duty of the government to take care of the underprivileged strata of society, said the Provincial Minister for Trade and Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal.

He stated this while addressing the cheques distribution ceremony at Jamia Masjid Muhammadi Sodiwal on Friday. The provincial minister added that it was worthwhile that the PTI-led government had cared for the most neglected and disfranchised segments of the society and launched different programmes for their welfare.

The Punjab government has doled out Rs12 billion so that the needy could start their small-scale businesses through interest-free loans, he added. The government is working for the protection of rights of the needy because helping them is a noble cause, he maintained.

He further said that the Punjab government had also started chief minister’s 'Honarmand Naujawan' programme to train 100,000 children with an amount of Rs1.5 billion during the current fiscal year.
