RAWALPINDI: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has sought applications from the public for hiring nine gardeners under a quota for specially-abled people.

Of the posts up for grabs, four of the vacant seats are in basic pay scale (BPS) grade two, while five of the posts are in BPS-5.

The process will be further expedited after the applications are received.

The Punjab government has allocated a three per cent quota for specially-abled people in government institutions as per their educational qualifications.

To ensure its implementation, the Punjab Social Welfare Department has been assisting such people during the recruitment process at government and private institutions.

So far, some 700 specially-abled people have been recruited in different government organisations in the Rawalpindi division.

Similarly, the Punjab Education Department has also started the process to hire such people.

Rawalpindi Social Welfare Director Muhammad Aslam said that the institution operates under the supervision of the commissioner and deputy commissioner (DC) and that providing jobs to specially-abled people is a requirement.

He added that the department stays in touch with the people it has placed in different departments to keep a check on the facilities offered to them by these departments.
