Land grabbers remanded to jail

A rifle and a pistol were also recovered from their possession

ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad on Thursday sent six suspected land grabbers to jail on a two-day remand.

The suspects, identified as Shoaib Khan, Gul Shehzad, Shawaiz Khan, Waqas Ahmed, Jawwad and Ehtisham were presented before a duty judge by the Tarnol police on Thursday. The police claimed that they were grabbing land and that they had spread fear and panic in the community by firing into the air when the reached a plot they wanted to forcibly occupy. The police claimed that the suspects intended to intimidate the owner of the plot and other locals through their actions.

They added that a rifle and a pistol were also recovered from their possession and pleaded the court to award physical remand for further investigation.

The court approved the police’s demand and awarded a two-day physical remand of all suspects.
