53 arrested for illegal LPG decanting

Police arrested the accused after registering cases against them

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad police have arrested 53 shopkeepers on the charge of decanting LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) illegally in various parts of the city over the last 12 hours.

A police spokesperson said that the police, along with teams of Civil Defence department, raided at illegal LPG refilling points and arrested 53 shopkeepers from Lorry Adda, Shadab Pulli, Eidgah Road, Sultan Town, Base Line Raza Abad, D-Type Colony, Korianwala Bridge, Chenab Chowk, Mansoorabad, Madani Chowk, Chak No 76/G-B and Chak No 203/R-B and caught the accused while they were illegally decanting gas. Other refilling spots include Khannuana Adda, Chak No 236/R-B, Chak No 75/J-B, Aminpur Bungalow, Nishatabad Overhead Bridge, Meeranwala Bungalow, Jamia Chishtia Chowk, Chak No 167/R-B and Jhumra Road, he added.

Police arrested the accused after registering cases against them and further investigation is under way, he said.
