Laws without justice

The reason why corruption is thriving in our country is the culture of silence

ISLAMABAD: Unfortunately, in a country like Pakistan laws and rules are constructed in such a way that people in power and authority are able to use backdoors and loopholes to violate them whenever they want, rendering everyone vulnerable. Corruption through power is such a vicious cycle that it prevents anyone from rebelling against the system by creating self-sustaining mechanisms for its own benefit. Hence power is concentrated amongst a certain few.

Undeniably, we have a plethora of laws, but delayed or no justice. Our society has fallen into wrong hands and that is why we see so many evils springing up all of a sudden. There is no use of being a trustworthy or honest person if the system itself is flawed or corrupt.

But many people prefer to stay quiet against injustice because they are afraid to take the first step and the rest will not follow. No one is willing to risk themselves. Many who don’t get justice, they in turn become corrupt and turn into criminals because they reach the conclusion that this society is a “haven for the outlaws and corrupt.” As long as injustice reigns, it is out of the question to make this country crime and corruption free. One important reason why corruption is thriving in our country is the culture of silence. I have no hesitation in saying that we are dumb people.
