Work on 1,290 projects in Sargodha in progress

Rs26.73b have been spent on these projects while Rs10.92b will be released in current financial year

SARGODHA: The work on 1,290 development schemes of different government departments worth Rs61.94 billion is under process in the Sargodha division.

It was disclosed in a meeting of the Divisional Development Committee held on Sunday. Provincial Minister for Human Resources and Development Ansar Majeed Niazi headed the meeting.

Around Rs26.73 billion have been spent on these projects while funds worth Rs10.92 billion would be released in the current financial year with approximately 58% work completed.

Director Development Nouman Shakeel said that out of the total 1,290 development projects, work was continued on 115 projects worth Rs35.83 billion of the highway department, 86 schemes worth Rs9.96 billion of building, 180 of Rs10.45 billion of Public Health Engineering and on 12 development schemes worth Rs90 million was continued.

The meeting was told that on 174 projects of a community development programme Rs1.92 billion, on 702 schemes under Prime Minister Development programme Rs1.19 billion while on 21 schemes under Naya Pakistan Manzilen Asaan Rs1.97 billion were being spent.

Shakeel said that under mega projects, a hospital consisted of 200 beds would be constructed in Mianwali district, construction of a two-way road from Mianwali to Sargodha and roads from Makhdoom Interchange to Sargodha and from Sargodha to Jhang district would be constructed.

The meeting was further told that action was taken against a total of 46 Be-Nami properties traced in the division. During drives against black marketing and inflation, a total of 114 price control magistrates have checked 839 units and taken action against 2,299 shopkeepers, imposed fines amounting to Rs3.5 million, registered 119 FIR whereas 46 people were arrested during the drive.

Sargodha Commissioner Dr Farah Masood has directed the officers to take strict action upon the Open Door Policy of the government.
