Uzbeks living in Pakistan cast their votes

ISLAMABAD: As Uzbekistan went to the polls on Sunday, so did Uzbek nationals who are living in Pakistan as they headed to their diplomatic mission, to cast their votes for the parliamentary and local government elections.

For this purpose, polling stations had been established at the Uzbek Embassy in Islamabad.

Uzbek Ambassador Furqat Sidikov and other Uzbek staff of the embassy cast their votes.

Polling started at 8am with Uzbek citizens, who have been living in Pakistan for a long time, casting their votes.

Uzbek citizens showed great interest in the voting process and the programmes — manifesto of the five candidates from the five political parties which are competing in the Uzbekistan elections.

As a sign of the exercise of their constitutional rights, Uzbek nationals who came to the embassy to cast their vote were provided with symbolic badges, which had been specially prepared by the embassy. It carried the inscription “New Uzbekistan - new elections”.
