RAWALPINDI: In a landmark decision, the Punjab government has directed to consider people who are transgender when recruiting for any post in all provincial institutions.

Besides males and females, as per their educational qualification, members from the transgender can also apply for jobs for which recruitment will be carried out through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).

Heads of all departments have been directed to implement the decision in letter and spirit. In this regard, Shemale Association Chairperson Almas Bobby lauded the government’s decision and demanded that people who are transgender should be provided with free admissions to schools along with the provision of free test books. Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Literacy Department Chandni Chowk has activated a literacy centre near Chandni Chowk which is particularly geared towards educating members of the transgender community.
