PESHAWAR: The District Education Office (DEO) for Haripur has retained its top position within a government performance scorecard for November.,
The District Performance Scorecard (DPS), by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department (ESED), gave the DEO office a score of 81%.
The scorecard, maintained with technical assistance from the British government’s Department for International Development (DFID), was unveiled in a DPS meeting on Friday.
During the meeting, the performance of 56 provincial DEO Offices, including 28 male and 28 female, in the settled districts were assessed on the quality and access indicators against targets set in their respective District Education Plans.
According to the ranking for Quality, the top seven DEO Offices were the Haripur DEO Office-Female with a score of 95.2%. It was followed by the Hangu DEO Office-Female with a score of 93.8%, Nowshera DEO Office-Female with 75.5, Shangla DEO Office-Male, Abbottabad DEO Office-Female, Peshawar DEO Office-Male and Haripur DEO Office-Male with 71.4%.
On the Access scorecard, the Haripur male and female DEO Offices secured the top two positions with scores of 81%. They were followed by Torghar DEO Office-Female 79%, Nowshera DEO Office-Female 77%, Lower Dir DEO Office-Female and Nowshera DEO Office-Male at 72%. The Karak DEO Office-Male received a score of 71%.
A significant improvement was seen in the student attendance rate which rose to 89.8% in schools within the jurisdiction of Haripur DEO-female and 87.2% within the jurisdiction of Nowshera DEO-male.
Overall student attendance was 82%, exceeding its set target of 80% due to the efforts of ESED, DEO Offices, and respective school managements.
Similarly, teachers’ attendance was recorded at an average of 90% with Nowshehra outshining others with a score of 92.54%. The number of closed schools fell to 102 against the baseline of 121. Additionally, 83% of Parent-Teacher Councils (PTCs) conducted regular monthly meetings in the province.
The meeting concluded with the distribution of appreciation certificates for the top seven position holders.
