Peshawar's Edwardes College gets temporary chief

Board also decides to conduct a third-party audit of Edwardes College

PESHAWAR: Professor Muhammad Zaki on Thursday was appointed as the interim principal of the Edwardes College in Peshawar while the next, permanent principal of the prestigious college would be from the Christian community.

This was decided during a meeting of the college’s Board of Governors (BoG) meeting at the Governor House on Thursday.

Chaired by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Shah Farman, the board also decided to issue an advertisement to appointment a regular principal of the college.

Further, Farman declared that the next principal of Edwardes College will be appointed from the Christian community and that the college’s Christian identity shall not be disturbed at any level.

The governor explained that the purpose of this move was to retain glory and historic identity of the college. He added that they want to take concrete steps for the restoration of the educational quality and standard in the college.

The board also decided to conduct a third-party audit of Edwardes College apart from conducting an inquiry into other reported irregularities in the college’s affairs.
