PML-N asks govt to rebut white papers with facts
SAPM on information blames N-league for ‘damaging economy’
LAHORE:
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of mortgaging the national economy, assets, and the economic survival of the citizens to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In a statement, she challenged the premier to respond to the white paper issued by her party.
On Tuesday, the PML-N issued a white paper titled “Clarion Call, Rescue Economy,” which discussed the social and economic implications of the IMF-dictated policies, implemented by PM Imran.
“Instead of hurling slurs, threats and insults,” Marriyum said the PM must respond and rebut the facts and figures of the white paper with plausible evidence.
She said the hue and cry of the government spokespersons was a proof of the “resounding success of the PML-N economic conference”. Tuesday’s report has left such spokespersons screaming because it exposed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s narrative of calling everyone else a thief, she alleged.
'PTI economic policies pushing Pakistan towards civil disorder'
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan strongly criticised the PML-N for “damaging the country’s economy” in its tenure.
In a series of tweets, she strongly reacted to the PML-N decision to hold an economic conference. She said that instead of holding the conference on economy, the PML-N should call back former finance minister Ishaq Dar who “mortgaged the country’s buildings and highways”.
Dr Firdous said: “The PML-N should have taken steps for improvement of economy when it was in the power rather than shedding the crocodile tears now.” The SAPM alleged the Sharif family promoted their businesses rather than serving the interests of masses when in power.
She said the top PML-N leadership is settled abroad and left behind the second tier leadership to hold seminars and conferences.
