A special court in Islamabad on Tuesday found General (retd) Pervez Musharraf guilty of high treason and awarded him a death sentence under Article 6 of the Constitution.

November 3, 2007: Pervez Musharraf declares emergency by putting superior court judges under house arrest



August 18, 2008: Musharraf resigns as president, goes into exile in London and Dubai



March 24, 2013: Returns to Pakistan but barred from contesting polls and from leaving the country



June 26, 2013: PM Nawaz Sharif orders FIA to probe high-treason case against Musharraf



November 16, 2013: FIA inquiry finds Musharraf ‘solely responsible’ for suspending Constitution



December 24, 2013: General Musharraf ordered to appear before Special Court



March 31, 2014: Special Court indicts ex-military ruler; Musharraf pleads not-guilty



March 18, 2016: Leaves for Dubai to seek medical treatment abroad after travel ban lifted



October 23, 2019: PTI government de-notifies prosecution team in high-treason case



November 19, 2019: Special Court reserves verdict to announce it on November 28



November 24, 2019: New prosecution team submits written arguments in Special Court



November 27, 2019: IHC restrains Special Court from announcing verdict on government’s appeal



December 17, 2019: Special Court sentences Musharraf to death for abrogating Constitution under Article 6
