24th FAST-NU convocation: 338 graduation caps in the air



A total of 338 students were awarded degrees in various disciplines at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences Islamabad’s (FAST-NU) 24th convocation held here on Sunday.


According to the university’s press release, 12 students were awarded degrees of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Sciences (CS), six for Master in Sciences (MS) in CS and 146 for Bachelor of Sciences (BS) in CS.

A total of 16 students were conferred degrees of Masters in Business Administration, while 52 students were awarded degrees of Bachelors in Business Administration. Two students were awarded MS degrees in Electrical Engineering (EE), while three were awarded MS degrees in Telecom Engineering (TE). Degrees of BS in TE were awarded to 80 students of the university.

In addition, five gold medals, four silver and bronze medals were awarded to students who topped their respective disciplines.

FAST-NU Chancellor Senator Waseem Sajjad, the chief guest, congratulated the students and commended the university for achieving high standards of education in a short span of time.

“It is heartening that despite constraints, the university has produced scientists, engineers, and managers of high calibre, who have brought good name to the university and also the country,” he said.

In his address, FAST-NU Director Dr Waseem Ikram said that the commitment of the faculty, hard work of the students, and the support and guidance of the university management has helped the campus reach this “enviable stature”. He said that the total number of PhDs produced by the university’s Islamabad campus has raised to 14.
