Bannu seeks help from ulema in polio drive

Scholars term vaccine being administered to children safe

BANNU: As a nationwide drive on polio kicks-off, the district administration in Bannu said that they have managed to gain the full support of ulema and other religious leaders for the drive.

This was stated by the Bannu Divisional Commissioner Adil Siddique on Sunday while addressing a meeting of Ulema, religious scholars, notables of the area, political and religious workers in Lakki Marwat.

A seminar on polio vaccination was also held in Halimaya Dara Pizu, the largest religious seminary of Lakki Marwat, where scholars, students from and teachers from different seminaries participated.

Scholars termed the polio vaccine being administered by the government as safe for children, adding that there is no excuse for not vaccinating children and that parents should cooperate with the immunisation teams.
