SHANGHAI: History-chasing China demonstrated their astonishing strength in depth as they maintained a perfect record in world championships diving heats despite injuries and retirement. Wang Han and Shi Tingmao ensured a Chinese one-two in the women’s 1m springboard – a supposedly weak event for the hosts – while Olympic champion Huo Liang dominated the men’s 10m synchro with new partner Qiu Bo. China, targeting an unprecedented diving medals sweep, have now topped all four preliminary events in Shanghai and claimed the championships’ first gold medal, through Wu Minxia and He Zi on the opening day.
