The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Friday said that they had recovered a stolen vehicle and returned it to its owner.

Officials said that they found the car standing motionless on the shoulder of the road. Officers saw that electric wires under the steering wheel were reconnected. This heightened suspicions of the officers who sought identification documents. The driver replied that his brother will be arriving with the necessary documents.

As officers withdrew to the patrolling vehicle, the suspicious driver fled into the fields. On searching the vehicle, the officers found a copy of the car’s registration book. They later learnt that the car had been stolen. The owners were contacted and the vehicle was returned.
