PESHAWAR: The provincial government on Thursday said that they will fully cooperate with federal investigators who launched a probe into the mass transit project, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) being built in Peshawar. However, an appeal has been filed before the top court.

Talking to media in Peshawar on Thursday, Adviser to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ajmal Wazir on Thursday said that the provincial government has no intention to hamper an enquiry into the project by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the directives of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

However, he added that the K-P government has filed an appeal against the PHC verdict before the Supreme Court.

Wazir argued that the provincial government was not given a chance to explain its position on the project which is why they decided to appeal it.

He added that the government will not compromise on the transparency of the project and will thus facilitate the inquiry.

Earlier, the FIA said that it has started investigating the project as per court directives. K-P FIA Additional Director Dr Mian Muhammad Saeed will monitor the probe.
