Major consequences of screen addiction are insomnia, isolation, loss of cognitive ability, strain on the body and eyes

ISLAMABAD: We live in a world where the screen plays a vital role in all our daily lives, whether it is phones, laptops or any other technological device. These screens have become personalised finding their way into our every institution and our daily lives. Thus, it can be said without doubt the people become addicted to their screens. It entails within it a whole different virtual world that is like a drug. Everyone spends a fair amount of time on screens. Moreover, platforms like Netflix or other social interactive websites are highly addictive for a huge number of people without knowing that they are addicted. However, it has numerous side effects. Many researches in this regard prove this fact and show that excess screen time can actually lead towards impaired brain development or can lead to serious medical conditions such as diabetes due to sedentary lifestyles. Furthermore, the major consequences of screen addiction are insomnia, isolation, loss of cognitive ability, strain on the body and eyes and emotional instability. Additionally, it would be impossible to get rid of screens as all digital devices have now becomes an indispensable part of our lifestyle, but what we can do is regulate and control our usage of it for our own mental, emotional and physical well-being.
