KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court granted a 15-day extension on Wednesday for the approval of bills by the cabinet pertaining to the plea against the use of CNG cylinders in school vans.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Agha Faisal heard the plea filed by Advocate Tariq Mansoor. The petitioner told the court that it has been suggested that CNG cylinders should be installed on the rooftops of vehicles.

The Sindh advocate-general said that an authority has been set up to address the use of CNG cylinders. However, progress can only be made after the cabinet meeting.

The court inquired as to when the cabinet meeting would be held and the advocate-general said that the meeting is expected to be held in a few days and the law department has prepared a draft in this regard.

The Sindh CNG kit and fitness authority has been established, added the advocate-general.

The bench directed the Government of Sindh to make laws in this regard and said that the petitioner should also submit his suggestions before the provincial government.

The court granted a 15-day extension for the approval of bills from the cabinet and adjourned the hearing till December 20.
