He expressed these views after a meetings with Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Teresa Ribeiro and Vice President of Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs and Portuguese Communities Pedro Filipe Soares. The governor urged them to support Pakistan in matters pertaining to extension in The Generalised System of Preferences (GSP)-plus status. “Both the leaders have assured their full cooperation and support to Pakistan,” he said.
During his recent visit to Europe, Sarwar met European leaders and discussed matters of mutual interest, including Kashmir issue, Indian war hysteria, peace in Afghanistan, Pak-Portugal relations, trade, and tourism.
“I am also holding a meeting with members of the European Parliament. Pakistan will succeed in extension in GSP-Plus status,” he said. “The country has already obtained benefits worth over $15 billion from GSP-Plus for five years, and GSP-Plus will benefit the country and strengthen its economy in the future as well,” he added.
