LAHORE: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) teams should improve their performance through close coordination with district police to curb crimes and accidents on highways, said Punjab Inspector General Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastagir.

“PHP should maintain information sharing so that the culprits of robbery, dacoity and other crimes could be put behind bars at a faster pace,” he added. He issued these directions during a performance review meeting of the PHP on Monday.

The IGP directed that special teams should be formed at PHP Headquarters to pay surprise visits in all regions and districts to review the performance and utilisation of available resources, in case of any violation of SOPs, procedural action must not be delayed. He further directed to ensure maintenance of ammunition stock at PHP posts across the province.
