LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said on Sunday the Indian government must realise that it cannot suppress the people of Kashmir’s freedom through the power of guns.

He urged the International institutions, including the United Nations (UN), to break the silence over the Kashmir issue. The governor expressed these views in a media statement issued on Sunday.

“The Indian army is committing acts of terrorism by turning 22,000 women into widows and violating the sanctity of another 11,000 women in Indian-held Kashmir,” he stressed.

The governor remarked that he strongly condemns Indian aggression in the occupied valley. “Over the last 30 years, 95,000 people, including 1,000 women, had been martyred due to atrocities by the Indian army in Indian-held occupied Kashmir.”

Thousands of innocent Kashmiris are still languishing in jails, but the Indian government could not suppress their resolve of freedom of movement which is getting stronger with each passing day, he maintained. “We cannot forget the Kashmiri people for even a moment. Kashmir is a part of Pakistan and no world power can separate them.”
