KARACHI: Tribe FC Peshawar fought back superbly to hold defending champions Islamabad United to a 2-2 draw in the Super Football League yesterday at the Peoples Stadium in Karachi.

After conceding a two-goal lead, Peshawar bounced back to earn a coveted point in the fiery battle that saw five yellow cards, including four for the title holders. Islamabad got an early lead when striker Yasir Afridi made no mistake in a sixth minute move with skipper Muhammad Qasim, who struck four minutes later to double the lead for his side.

Peshawar switched to aggressive mode and reduced the lead through Abrarullah who found the net in the 39th minute as Islamabad United led by 2-1 at half-time.

Improvement came in the second half as Sohail Khan scored in the 50th minute to level the game.

Quetta record their first win

Meanwhile, Quetta Zorawar thrashed Lahore Lajpaals 3-0 to record their first win of the tournament on Saturday. Skipper Nasrullah, Jadid Khan Pathan and Mehmood Khan scored goals for the winners.

The win has put Quetta on top in the points table followed by Islamabad with two draws. Peshawar and Karachi are third and fourth place respectively with one draw each while Lahore Lajpaals, yet to score a point, remain bottom.
