Humayun's slap reduced Shehwar to a dau takkay ka aadmi: Adnan Siddiqui
The scene led caused a huge uproar on social media, as though viewers had gotten some sort of epiphany by finally witnessing it. The slap has spurned memes and tweets and Facebook posts, so much so that Team Danish and Team Shehwar have started giving flashbacks of 2008, when all of us were torn between Twilight's Jacob Black and Edward Cullen.
The fan frenzy prompted Saeed to take to Twitter last week and thank everyone for watching the show. “Thank you for all the love and appreciation! It kind of feels strange to ‘like’ or respond to all the excitement over someone being hit though,” joked the actor. “I have to admit, credit goes to Adnan Siddiqui whose wonderful reaction to my action (the slap) has made this sequence such a success.”
And now, Siddiqui has responded to Saeed's note, saying that it was all a team effort. The local heartthrob uploaded a video on his Instagram, thanking fans and his co-star for their support.
Siddiqui began by captioning the video with an iconic line from Salman Khan's police comedy Dabangg. “Thappar se darr nahi lagta sahab, pyaar se lagta hai (I am not scared of violence. I am scared of love)" he wrote. "Haha! Thank you Humayun for the impromtu thappad (slap) that has created a ripple effect. The way you hit me got the best reaction out of me. Hoping you all will continue to shower us with your love," he added.

In the video, the actor addressed Saeed directly. "Adaab, Danish sahab. Kaisay hein, Humayun? (Hello, how are you, Humayun?)" he said. "Aap ne kuch kuch din pehele aik tweet likhi ke Shehwar ka thappar wala scene iss liye acha hua kyun ke Adnan ne reaction itna acha diya uss ka. Danish sahab, agar aap achaanak kissi ke bhi kamre mein ghussein ge aur thappar raseed kardeinge, tau sab ka yehi reaction ho ga (A few days ago, you tweeted that the scene where Danish slaps Shehwar turned out so well because Adnan gave a very good reaction to it. Well, if you break into anyone's room and slap them, they will all react the same way)" he added, jokingly.
Siddiqui went on to add a reference from another iconic scene Mere Paas Tum Ho, wherein Danish calls his estranged wife Mehwish (Ayeza Khan) a "dau takke ki aurat." He said, "Thank you, Humayun, for writing such a beautiful tweet. But thappar se darr nahin lagta sahab; pyaar se darr lagta hai. Aur is aik thappar ne Shehwar ko dunya bhar mein dau takkay ka kardiya hai (This one slap has reduced Shehwar to nothing in front of the world)."
Whatever their onscreen issues, it is refreshing to see the camaraderie between Saeed and Siddiqui. What happens next in Mere Paas Tum Ho? Guess we'll just have to wait and find out.
