Brick By Brick: Call for registration of 470 kilns

J&PC has called for the registration of 470 brick kilns operating in Multan under the Factory Act, 1934.

MULTAN: The Justice and Peace Commission (J&PC) has called for the registration of 470 brick kilns operating in Multan under the Factory Act, 1934. Members of the commission said that registration would allow the workers to avail social security cover. During a seminar organised by the J&PC titled ‘Government policies and their impact on kiln workers and owners’, speakers demanded that kiln workers also be issued social security cards and given priority as recipients of aid under different schemes. The participants also said that vigilance committees be made functional at the district level to check working conditions in all kilns.
